In my opinion more than half of America pushed the wrong button. Not because he is black, I'm cool with that. More because of the socialist beliefs he harbors.

I just returned from Memphis TN. and Tunica MS. and trust me a vast majority voted for him just because he was black.
I was warned to be very careful of approaching this subject as a conservative.
I was speaking to a group of men there at the range in TN. and was amazed at the lack of common sense when it came to voting for a leader of this country.
No one I spoke with knew this country was a republic and had no idea what a republic was. They thought we live in a democracy.
After explaining the difference between the two I was told I was an idiot and didn't know what I was talking about.
I got the same response in MS.
Before this trip I was concerned with the American public and their lack of knowledge and understanding; now I am plain scared.

Marry the White Guilt / Wealth Guilt / Social Guilt crowd with the Blame America / America is a Downright Mean Country / America is Evil Crowd, in the Church of Political Correctness, and we have this mess.

I'm not sure what people are trying to prove. Uh, I voted for, supported, and covered up for, a black guy, so that proves I'm not a caveman?

Forty plus years of liberal public schools,to exist the far left requires
    dumbing down of our children.

I don't know how old it is, but y'all realize that was Illinois State Senate, not US Senate? So that's a long time ago. And it's SIllinoise.

During the election I went to see what his US Senate record was because it seemed he'd shirked his responsibility quite a bit. Turned out, while his numbers were much lower, he had a similar voting record as McCain had due to campaigning. So it wasn't even as bad as it was being said it was and I believed it was.

How he voted on some things is another issue.....

So are you saying it's okay that he didn't do squat as a US senator, and voted "present" 130 times while state senator?

That's leadership you can believe in?

A 6 year old can figure out an Xbox 360 controller that has about 20 buttons and two directional controllers on it, and can use it without looking at it or even thinking about it with a couple hours of practice, but our president, who's supposed to be a smart guy, can't even find his way around a panel with three buttons on it?

them TN and MS hillbillies don't know what they're talkin 'bout

Hey were rednecks in MS, we don't have enough mountains to qualify for hillbilly statues. But I'm from south MS, and those people north of Jackson can get a little scary.

You're saying that, I'm not. You're just looking for someone to spar with again. I'm just pointing out that all the hoopla is being made over a record that's not uncommon to his peers. His record as a US Senator, although short lived, wasn't out of line as compared to others. Most of the negative press came from his record while campaigning which matches McCain's. Other than that, I remember researching and expecting to find a crappy record prior to the campaign, and didn't.

And I don't know much about his record as a state senator and I really don't really care. I do know there were reasons for some of the "present" votes and in some cases the only reason seemed to be to dodge a bullet. He's a politician, it's what they do but has little to do with today, over 10 years later....

DCortez you're on the money. Avoiding certain situations is standard for a politician, but so many times and it's a blatant sign of situational avoidance.
