My father-in-law, who is in his 80's just gave me his Mossberg 146B-A 22 rifle.
Can anyone tell me a little about it? His memory is not what it was and it is years since he has shot it.
    How old is it?
Should I have a gunsmith give it a once over before firing it?
How many rounds will it hold (I got 19 in it, but I'm not sure if this is too many)?
What is its value (for insurance purposes). Its a beautiful gun in like new condition.
It has a Weaver B4 sight on it, he seemed to remember it was a good one in its day - any opinions on it?
I'll post some pictures if anyone is interested.
    thanks!

Excellent! I followed the link on the page and was even able to find the original instructions sheet.
It around 50 years old (made 1954 to 1958).

    Thank you Malladus!
