Y'all know about this stuff, so I thought I would ask....

Is there some sort of waiting period on an FFL transfer of a shotgun I bought out of state and mailed in, or will it be pretty quick to pick it up, with just the federal form? I don't have much time today and am going out of town for a week, but I would like to slip by and grab it on my way home. Fedex notified me a few mins ago that it had arrived at the local FFL gun shop I used.

Thanks in advance for any info. Just found this site and hoping to settle in. :)

Unless there is an issue with the 4473, or the gunshop that received it being "too busy" it should be quick and simple. As long as you get approved by the phone call, or have a CHL you have no worries.

It's the exact same process you go through when buying a new gun. Fill out the 4473, they call it in if you don't have a CHL. If there are no delays, then you get your gun and go.
