Just below the panhandle of Texas
This came with the house just as you see it. It works fine, but I'm wondering why it is so complex looking.
What is the purpose of the long bar jabbed into the wood chunk? Why does it have the leaf spring? What the hell were they clamping that caused that handle to bend?!

My friend and I are just getting into some blacksmithing so I recognized that type of vise right away.

If you find that you don't want it you'll be able to sell it for $100, maybe more.
