So my dad owns a drag track and we were talking recently about trying to install some sort of start line/finish line video system so that we could record each race as more proof of any results (racers challenging the timing system results). I was curious if anyone had any decent ideas that would work for this situation. Wondered about just buying another video surveillance system but wasn't sure if that was the best method or not. I'm unsure of what resolution/framerate you would likely need to capture it accurately. If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be appreciated.

Video, you're going to run into problems with frame rates possibly not being fast enough to be clear. I think the accepted method is an optical beam over the finish line at bumper height that trips the shutter on a camera.
