    I didn't notice the date, but when I got to the part where he says some land owners are charging $400 per gun to hunt, I thought, "What decade is this from??" Then I looked at the date. I think it was over $400 in the 80's. I would be most ecstatic to find a lease for double that today.

    Before fishing and hunting was an internet fad. Now we have people that want to hunt and fish then take photos with dead fish and game for internet status and leave it to rot.
    In the late 80’s we had a deer lease for $500 a year that we shared with ten other hunters.

    I remember that. My sister lived near Slocum at the time and I used to hunt with her husband.

    I heard rumors that an organized militia had declared Crockett National Forrest their territory and game wardens were refusing go in.

    I guess ARs aren’t all that uncommon anymore and the game wardens are packing them, too. Often they’re necessary (for Hunters) for hog control, though I don’t know if that qualifies as hunting.
