Random Outdoor Shooting - Any legal/safe places?

Hello! I'm new here, and to Texas - was just wondering if there are any places near the Dallas/Fort Worth area (Within an hour's drive) where you can just go outside and do some plinking? I recently moved down from a rural area in Washington, I knew the farmers, enjoyed just going shooting on their land. But here, I am not so lucky haha. Are ranges my only option?

Any input would be appreciated!

Ranges are your only option until you meet and earn the trust of some landowners. Some folks just pull off the road and start blasting away but don't get caught doing that. It's dangerous and illegal. Just find you a nice range and talk up some of the folks there. It won't be too long before you get a connection with a landowner as long as you don't have an asshole out of stater attitude.

P.S. I don't have an asshole out of stater attitude. I'm not from California hahaha, but really - I don't feel I'm an out of stater at this point. I am Texan (ok, not born Texan sadly) but, I like Texas and am glad to be here.

Dallas - Elm Fork Shooting Range (outdoor)

Plano - Bullet Trap (indoor)

Garland - Garland Public Shooting Range (outdoor)

Targetmaster (indoor)

Mickeys Place is where you go to plink. It is in South Dallas along trinity. Plinkers paradise.

New here too, coming from CO. So far I've been going over to the Garland Shooting Range and it is working out well. The folks that work there are friendly and cooperative, plus they enforce common sense safety rules. Good place.

Yup, I agree; however, g-ma was coming to Dallas with or without me......hmmm.

Colorado was home for almost 30 years and then our youngest daughter had to go marry a Dallas boy.
