It was brought up that I should start a thread for this, so I am.
Sunday July 19th will be one of my rare sundays off. I am going to Shiny Top Ranch, near Salado, to shoot in the morning. Unfortunately, I will have leave around noon to get my wife to Waco for a week long class. But at least it will be cooler in the morning.
Anyone that wants to meet me there is more than welcome. Fees are $15 all day. Pistol, rifle and skeet range. If you have chairs or folding table, you may want them at the rifle range. There ain't none.
Everyone is welcome. Break over, will add more later.

I'll come if my wife is available that day. Need her car to traverse those dirt roads with potholes. What all are you bringing? I've never shot skeet in my life but would love to get involved. I've always been a rifle/handgun guy, more on the rifle side obviously.

Probably just a pistol or two. Maybe the .22 rifle to see if someone can get better groups than me. A couple pop up targets and some paper ones. Probably enough for everyone.

Scroll down to a rudimentary one.

I've never been there but have talked to Herb several times and he's a real nice guy. Not too smart though since he lets Jimmy hang around.

    Sometimes I wonder about him.
Sorry so late. If you search for Shiny Top Ranch Lane, Salado Tx, it will come up on google maps.
Take IH 35 to Salado, I belive the exit number is 286. Take fm 2484 to Crows Ranch Rd and turn left. When you pass a big double column ranch gate on your right, Shiny Top Ranch is on your left right after that. When you pull in, go through the gate leading to the Cowboy Church. You may have to push the button on the pole. The pole with the sign that says smile, you are on camera. Go down the road to El Campo. You will see the pistol range when you turn in. If you are coming, PM me and I will give you my number if you get lost. Monday I will call herb and see what time we can get started shooting. Should be by 8 or 9am.

I don't have pics of the skeet, rifle range or hunt camp. Rifle range is kind of makeshift but goes to about 125 yards. Full skeet range with a high and low house.
For those concerned, we will pretty much be responsible for our own safety. There is no full time RSO. If you feel someone is being unsafe, by all means speak up. Doesn't matter who it is. Our group or not. I am used to shooting by myself and am not immune to mistakes, so that includes me.
Rapid fire and any position you chose, including prone, on the rifle range is fine as long as you are safe.
Tannerite, I will ask about if anyone wants to shoot some. Let me know and I will.
ALL, and I stress ALL forum members, that want to get together for a bit and shoot are welcome. The only thing that matters is have fun and be safe.

That, and don't laugh at me too much. A little is ok.
And it's on a working cattle ranch. Don't shoot the cows.

When I was there two weekends ago, you could see where the cows had walked by the covered area at the pistol. Kind of thought it was funny actually. As long as they don't eat my bag I don't care.
