Not in Texas, but still a Southern problem this time of year.
    Copperheads also.
Killed three copperhead babies in the yard cleaning up around the lake house in AR last week.
Left the nosy 10 lb pup back in Houston for that very reason.

I've never seen a Rattler in the wild despite of all the outdoor activities in snake country. There have been plenty of Water Moccasins, Copperheads and a few Coral snakes to deal with, but never a Rattler. I'm keenly aware of snake habitat and even wear snake boots when taking pictures of wildflowers. I've just never seen a Rattler.

Cut a 12" baby Copperhead to shreds with the weed-eater last week. He was lying low in the grass under a Pecan Tree, and I wondered what the cats were looking at.

    Be well.

I have never run across Rattler on the 20 acres I live one. I've removed a dead one off a runway and saw one curled up on the yellow divider line on 1863 close to cedar ridge range and it was biting at car tires. Seen a variety of others from water moccasins to garter snakes.

    Dallas Texas or so
Only experience I had with a rattler was when my horse shied from one on a steep mountain trail in Colorado. That is not a fun place to be when the horse shies from one.

The neighbors plowed a field down the road from us
3 hours later we killed 2 Rattlers laying on the road adjacent to the field

I hate them with a passion

Seen plenty of moccasins and copperhead out mountain biking over the years, no rattlesnakes. However, It's been about 10 years, but my son was bit by on riding MTN bikes at Cedar Hill state park. Lucky it was a dry bite though. Still swoll up a good bit..
