Hello everyone, again. I've recently made a big move with my wife from DFW to Austin. Starting a new job and trying to get my bearings in a new area.

If anyone has any pointers or suggestions for NW Austin please let me know. Already I know:

1) It's hot.
2) That river is actually a lake... usually
3) The Oasis still has a great view, good margaritas, and eh food

Mainly I'm in need of a good range to shoot (I hear Eagle's Peak is good), a good gun store, and possibly an FFL (Saw one in Round Rock on the FFL Thread)

Hope to spend more time here and hope to hear from you.

Panzers,
Ishtacka

Yes...Eagles Peak is a good start.

For Gun Stores in North side of Austin besides your regular Walmart and Academy:

Top of the list for me http://www.gtdist.com/

and for food it depends on what you want to eat. From Asian, German, Italian, Brazilian etc. you name it. They have it here in Central Texas.

Welcome to Austin...

Re-welcome. If I couldn't live where I am, Austin would be pretty high on my alternate list. I'm sure the TGT guys will get you pointed in the right direction.

Thank you all for your replies. Austin is the only city I have ever moved to where people would say, "Ahhh, I love Austin!"

Cali- Thank you for your list, I will start from the top. From GT's website I get the feeling that they are LE only. Is that true or is that just for their online distributing?

Thanks again,
Ish

They're not LE only. They might have some LE only items, but I got a nice pistol belt from them. Their store is very well stocked, but I think they're only open on weekdays IIRC.

BTW, Din Ho has some of the best Chinese food in Austin (ate there tonight!):Din Ho Chinese BBQ

I love Din Ho Chinese BBQ as well. But due to fall out of the owners the cooks and the founder of the original Din Ho relocated and established their own restaurant. I think it's called HO HO Chinese BBQ located on the corner of I-35 and Parmer where Village Inn Restaurant used to be. It's infront of Walmart.

Yes civilians are welcome at GT and some brands (Glock) are only sold to LE's Military, EMS and Feds due to big discounts. Good place to start especially if you're into Tacticool stuff.
