my Wife, er....Santa, is getting for me a new Rebel .22lr pistol as a Christmas gift (an upgraded Ruger Charger) and I'll be putting a scope on it

she and I will "compete" against each other (for now) at distances of 100yds (mostly but +/- yds) - indoor range 'cause of weather - she'll be shooting her very accurate Savage 93, .17HMR with a Weaver 4-16x42 scope (I'll be shooting the Rebel)

so, looking for Scope suggestions from folks that might be doing this sort of target shooting (we don't hunt) - thank you

here's a pic of a Rebel (not the one I'm getting, but close):

I would run the same scope and ammo just to have a nice side by side comparison. However, I think it's gonna be hard for that short barrel to keep pace with a full length barrel at 100yds. Personally, I use Mueller APVs on my bench rested 22s but they might be a bit lengthy for the charger. Sharp lookin' 22 !

you're right - but as of right now I'm a better shot than she is (I do know that she'll "catch up" with me, in time however.....)

    - just saw a utube clip on the Mueller APV 4.5-14x40mm - looks like a good value and it's "sorta" the same specs as her Weaver, but for $100 less - will keep it in mind - thank you

+1 on Mueller APV, came with a CZ452 I bought. Big fan of both now....yeah, might be a bit long for that rig (esp w/ the sunshade).
    Merry Christmas!

Leupold pistol scopes (had a fixed 4x) work very well and the eye relief was perfect for me. They are at the top of your price range but are worth every penny.

I had a BSA and the eye relief was not even close to right for me.

You may have to try a few to get the eye relief you need.

I'm not thinking a lot about eye relief - the pistol will be shot, off a bench, using a bipod - there simply won't be any offhand shooting and with the pistol being relatively heavy, the .22lr round won't be causing much muzzle flip (eye poking)

guess 1st I'll mount my Wife's Weaver scope on it and see how that "works" - will also checkout the APV (for 1/2 the price)

Even on a bench with a bipod, it's still a pistol and meant to be shot as such. But sillier things are done all the time, i guess. LOL

    .
my "research" has turned up these (so far) :

    -Weaver Classic 2.5-8x28 $210
    -Swift Premier 2-6x32 $184
    -Bushnell Trophy XLT 2-6x32 $180
    BSA 2-7x32 Edge Pistol $140
    Simmons Prohunter 2-6x32 $107

leaning towards the Weaver (have a Weaver on my Wife's .17HMR and like it)

then the choice would be "the look" - Black or Stainless

any opinions about the above (or others) ?
