Looking forward to attending my first event once the weather warms-up a bit.
Was hoping I could take one of my centerfire rifles, but all of the 2018 events near DFW are rimfire only.

Seems that semi-autos are best for these events.
Since the Savage MKII FV-SR that Santa brought me is a bolt action, it's a great excuse to get another plinker LOL

I'll want to mod it for fun, so I want lots of aftermarket goodies.
And I want a threaded barrel.

Am I right in assuming a Ruger 10/22 is gonna be the TGT choice?

    I suck.
In .22LR, I've only got a GSG-522 and the aforementioned Savage at the moment.

I need to redeem myself :green:

The 10/22 rules the aftermarket. Basically you can change everything so that it's not a Ruger anymore. The factory stock should be the first to go. It is made for open sights and is uncomfortable with a scope on it IMHO.

My 1985 plane Jane Marlin 60 is more accurate than a modern bell's and whistles factory 10/22 but I digress...

why bother with the ruger and then swap out parts lol. Just buy all after market now and build what you want.

If I can find a heavy threaded barrel model for a good price, I'd probably just swap-out the stock...at least to start.

While I do want to mod/tinker with it, I also don't think I want to end up with a $1,000 .22R

Well...as long as that deal wouldn't leave you without a remaining 10-22, because we all know that to be 10-22less is verboten.
Uh oh. I've got six .22 rifles and none of those. (Looks skyward for the ban hammer)

    Gunz are icky.
    The one with the Hogue.
Decent scope and you'll be in business.

Shoot it a bunch hefore you go modding it.
You may find you do not need to.
