I'm new to guns. Ill be getting a 9mm for self/home defense fairly soon but I've been considering also getting a 22lr pistol to get some shooting experience since (when you can find the ammo it's cheap). I'm looking to stay under the $300 mark. From what I've found it seems the beretta neo looks like it fits my needs. Anyone have any thoughts on it?

something to consider: many of us barely get enough range time to maintain a minimum proficiency with our primary weapons. I suggest skipping the purchase of a .22 and put that money in more ammo and practice time with your primary. You can also get started in hand loading for price of a .22. When SHTF occurs, you want to operate your weapon without having to wonder stuff like "where's the safety on this one?"

That's why many .22 variants are great for practicing SHTF situations without the same cost of ammo. Many manufactures make pistols in .22 that they offer in 9/40/45 calibers. Or, the 22/45 has the same grip angle and safety as a 1911.

Just bought one last week and got to shoot it at the range this past weekend. My wife LOVES it. Nice and accurate.
    Great for training.
