Recommendations on Tablets for Med school

I have a nice laptop but sometimes it would be nice to have something a little more portable to study off of. My laptop is a 2 n 1 but it’s massive. Any recommendation that also don’t break the banks.

I have two Surface Pros from work that have been reliable though they're always attached to the keyboard. An iPad would be good but they might hit his "breaking the bank" number.
