My husband wants a red DOT sight for his .22 pistol. He mentioned the Burris Fastfire. Can anyone recommend any others similar?

Eotech makes a red dot sight (called the micro red dot sight, or MRDS), as does Trijicon. These would be more expensive than the burris, but are much higher quality options.

OpticsPlanet.com has some great sales on right now. Might be worth doing some price comparisons.

This being said, for the money, the burris is a good choice.

I went with an Aimpoint micro H-1 on my Ruger MK 3.

At first I considered a Burris Fastfire III. But I kept reading about the screw threads in the mount or battery compartment getting stripped.

Buy one of those at $250, accidentally strip the threads, buy a replacement and it comes out to be almost as expensive as just getting the literally bombproof micro Aimpoint in the first place and the replacement unit could have the same issue.

I have an Ultra Dot on my Buckmark and like it a lot. A bit longer than some, but light weight and well built.

    Buy once cry once. Aimpoint.

Not being an Aimpoint owner yet (but having just picked up a new rifle to mount under my EOTech), I completely agree with this sentiment. Made the change in my purchasing habits a few years ago and have been MUCH happier in general. Bed/frame, leather travel briefcase, etc... all higher quality and higher price, but worth it in the reduction of the hassle factor and my lasting enjoyment with the product. I'd mention my Mac, too, if it weren't for the religious war that would erupt. :)

Primary Arms makes their own micro red dot that's been getting great reviews. Its on sale right now at a great price. You should go check it out as well as the reviews.

I like variable power scopes for rifles. Works like an Aimpoint (or any other non-magnified red dot sight) for fast/close stuff, but gives you the option to "zoom in." Best all-around IMO.

Primary Arms had a sale going on their micro dot red dot for $60 on black Friday, may want to look into one of those. Great reviews and its a nicely built sight.
