Mine are about 1200 to 1500. I have not chronograph them but have others and they are some where in there. And that is not bad at 100 yds. . If I can find some blue dot I'll try that. Finding blue dot HAHAHA

It's always fun to try different stuff. Just wondering what it's costing you per round....would some match 22LR be better/easier to accomplish the same thing (yes, I know 22LR won't shoot out of your UNMODIFIED* 223 bolt gun).

    *clarification for benenglish's benefit

I do reduced loads in 221 fireball, 223 rem., 22-250, and 30-06. I can hunt small game with them all. I like the 22's ,but if you can't get them some times these days you can all ways go to the reduced loads. You can get a lot of shots out of a 1 lb. power like about 1700 shot using 4 grs. of power. It depends on the type bullet you can get. But about .08 cents to .15 cent a shot. And some of the prices they are trying to charge for 22's. The cases can be used over and over a lot. Primers are about $.04. All a + for me.

Makes sense to me, thanks. Hopefully 22LR will come down (not holdin my breath), but certainly a good idea to have a b/u plan as you do.

I've been playing with 9mm subs, but sometime a 115 to 147gr is a little more mass than I want to be slinging downrange.

I looked through my notes and didn't see any velocities for the Blue Dot load. I'm pretty sure I shot that group out of a handi rifle, but it would function in an AR as long as it was manually ejected.

Since I also cast .224" bullets, I could load them in .223 brass for even cheaper shooting.

I don't have a suppressor, but it would work good. One thing I have been told about my reduced loads is when you are in the woods and shot it , if some one is about 100 yds. a way it will sound like the shot is in a tunnel. I would think if it was used with a suppressor and the vol. is under 1500 FPS you would not hear much??

I use mine like a .22 LR, so it doesn't matter too much about how fast they are. Depending on the load, you can make .22 LR, .22 Mag or .22 Hornet equivalents.
