Recently I put together an AR with a White Oak Barrel and decided that I need something to feed it other than the typical 55gr fodder. The barrel is 18" with a 1 in 8 twist rate.

Luckily I happen to have some Sierra 63gr Semi point and 65gr Gamekings on hand.

In the past, I tried out a few loads using the Sierra 60gr HP and accuracy was pretty good in other rifles good so I was confident these would do well.

Anyhow, I worked through some basic ladder tests using only Tac rifle and these two projectiles. Working within Sierras recommended ranges, I was able to reduce groups from around 1.2"(5 shot) to as low as .785" so far in just 2 rounds of testing(@100yds).

I started at 24.2 grains and loaded as high as 25gr. Although I experienced no pressure signs, I was content to settle at 24.8gr with either bullet. Odd enough, my second best group was at 24.4gr with a difference of only 30 fps (2898 vs 2865).

I've been running wolf SR magnum primers for all of my testing and so far they are doing the job. I do have other primers and several other powders on hand.

So if you have a good pet load for these bullets, please post away.
