Ok, so I've come across some WST powder and I am looking for 9mm recipes.

I'd like to load up some 147 gr. subsonic rounds with it, 'cuz I hear WST is a very clean burning powder.

    Anyone have suggestions?

WST is pretty fast for that application. No data on Hogdon's website, or any of my usual sources. I lean towards HS6 or similar for 9x19.

I’ve used it for 9mm and had load data for it, but don’t recall where I got the data.

I’ll try to remember to look tomorrow.

I have used 3.9 grains of WSF for several years with a 147 gr coated Ibejihead, around 1.14 OAL. I agree, after a lot of research, seemed like users noticed the WST / WSF are less smokey with coated bullets. I get almost no smoke with WSF. This 3.7 - 3.9 gr load of WSF with a 147 gr makes minor power, should be at about 130 PF. WSF is slower than WST but it is extremely accurate for me.

I've got around 12 lbs of WST. I'd love to give it a try in the 9mm. But there's scant data for it out there.

I do have data for Ramshot Competition which is also a fast powder.

For an example the minimum listed charge weight of WST for a 200 LSWC in the .45 ACP is 4.4 gr. For Competition it's 3.9 gr.

    WST 830 fps
    Competition 806 fps

Take that for what it's worth.

Data for Competition for a 147 gr lfp is 2.6 gr.

If one is an intrepid reloader you might be able to extrapolate data and figure that a 2.8 gr charge of WST MIGHT be a good starting weight.

Be careful w/wst in 9mm: I personally would make sure to work up loads conservatively and using a chronograph:

This is all from brianenos.com (theyre mostly a uspsa/3gun focused forum)... take it for suggestions, ONLY:

"WST works very well with BayouBullets or Precision molly in 9 mm, with jacketed bullets 125gr it is a bit snappy. I have shot a lot of 125gr Zeros with WST, the oal and pay attention here was 1.145 and 4.6gr of WST with WinSPP. This will get you to 130-135pf depending on the speed of your barrel, don't push beyond this with this powder. Yes, that is a warning, at a shorter oal less powder!"

"Older Hornady manuals list WST. Hornady 4th edition shows 124 jacketed with WST--start 4.8-max 5.4 If you google search skills are really strong, you can still find original Winchester Load data for WST. Use this tip carefully. ....you can generally take a published load with 231 and reduce the load by .1 and use the data for WST in 9mm"

"WST will perform best with 147's and coated lead. My personal favorite is 3.6-3.7 grains of WST with a 147 Bayou flat point or the Zero 147 JHP"

147gn lead: 3.2-3.4gn START, 3.5-4.0gn Max. That means you could almost be at MAX load with YOUR lot of powder at 3.3-3.4gn, not to mention COL variations due to bullet profile.
3.5gn is MAX for plated bullet—again with caveat that the bullet COL could have a major effect.

I remember the 9mm Load Book (the one you can get from midway) had WST loads in there. I have load data from testing it years ago but I didn't like the feel or flash if either WSF or WST according to my notes.
