Can anyone recommend a gunsmith in San Antonio area that can do a barrel swap? I have the replacement barrel in my possession, I just need to swap it out and I don't have the gear.

I got a price over the phone from a local shop that was the cost of a new rifle.

    Thanks!

Out of curiousity, what caliber are you changing and why? I have two older 700s.

So I called a couple of the more popular gun stores locally and got a quote for labor of $500 to $800. If I put there names here you would instantly recognize them in the SA area. I took it to Precision Rifle Works in New Braunfels and they are doing it for between $80 and $300.

I am replacing the barrel from a hunter profile to a bull barrel in the same Caliber. Talking to the guys at Precision they could re-caliber the barrel too if I wanted to go from .308 to 6.5 Creedmore. I didn't explore this but it was interesting that it was a service.

He likely meant that they could re barrel to a different caliber...that's really not that hard to deduct from his post is it?
