Remington Nylon 66

Traildust, sorry for a late reply but I have been away from the forum for awhile.
It is a two piece mount that clamps the groove and a rail on the scope. The split is down the length of the mount. I do not know the manufaturer as it came with the gun.

Okay, that's great, thanks for the reply and the info. I've been dragging my heels on getting a scope, and I think the time is right. I'll look into it further, and if I get a scope mounted I'll certainly update this thread with details and a photo.

The Model 60 thread got me to thinking of of my little Remington and was wondering if anyone else owned or had one. I had one befor and it was stolen with several other guns. Then I was in Louisiana and found this one for $100 and bought it.

I have the exact same one you have. Bought it for the same price from a person at a gun show.

The Nylon 66 was the gun my grandfather taught me to shoot with. When I got proficient, it was mine. Still have it. Don't think I could bring myself to sell it, it's got way too much sentimental value.

Agreed 100%. My Dad taught my brothers and I how to shoot on it, I've taught several people with it, and I'd never part with it for anything. It carries a lot of sentimental value for sure.

What is this gun cleaning y'all have mentioned? It's something I avoid until the weapon has problems cycling or I'm really bored and know I've put very many shots down range.

It's just that some people didn't realize that the gun was designed to not need cleaning, except for the barrel. I myself sometimes took the gun apart to completely clean it, just because I'm very thorough and want to always do the best for my guns. But a call to Remington convinced me no cleaning was necessary. For some people it's hard to get beyond that, after all the M-16 was declared a no cleaning necessary weapon when it was first fielded.

ok then you are holding the one they called seneca green it is a true model 66 and is quite desirable among collectors , willing that one away you should be getting plenty of but kissin lol .....

Because the blanket it was sitting on is green, the color doesn't show up well and looks like brown, but trust me it's Seneca Green. Nylon porn.....
