Removing Thread Protector on Arsenal 107CR

Ok Guys,

I'm trying to remove the thread protector on my Arsenal 107CR. It appears that
I could just unscrew the thing but it won't budge. I see some sort of pin locked into the side of this thing that is probably cause the headache but I don't know how to remove it. Is there some kind of tool or technique I should be using here?

Nevermind the above post. For anyone curious the pin I mentioned does reced back into the fsgb allowing the nut to slip off. Very obvious now that I tried that..
