hey all, I've got a Stevens 200 in .243 that has iron sights, would I get away with medium rings? and are see-thru rings out of the question? Any recommended?
thanks to all replies and the forum.

See through rings are very tall, so most people avoid them because of cheek weld issues. If you can use your iron sights with the scope rail mounted, you might try quick release rings. Leupold makes a very good set that will hold zero when you remove and reinstall them. The best advise to find proper ring height is to take the gun to a gun store and try some out. There is not a standard height for rings (different makers mediums are different heights). Most stores will mount the rings and bore sight it for a small fee. It also depends alot on the scope you are going to use, and the scope may hit the rear sight.

I concur with all of this ... it's something you have to try out.
