Ronnie and Chris Barrett immediately come to mind.

Renaud Kerbrat (designer of the KRISS Vector) comes in quickly second.

FN Herstal employs some brilliant designers, though they do not release the names of designers for specific products.

There are many out there who are taking the AR platform to levels that were previously thought impossible.

I'd say we have at least a few guys out there right now who will be viewed by history as great firearms innovators of their time in their own right.
