The February Guns & Ammo has a write-up about it. Has 16.5" barrel and take all Mini 14 mags. Even has the correct internal barrel dimensions for the Russian cartridge. Looks like another winner from Ruger!

Had a couple come through the shop. Decent enough for hogs or short to medium range shots on South Texas deer. Cheaper alternative to the CZ and does come threaded.....ammo is still reasonable and if you are an AK fan....it's a reasonable addition...imho..

I like. Looked at the bolt Howas in the commie round before. Good medium powered rifle.

Are mini 30 mags the same as mini 14 mags?

    That place east of Waco....
I like the concept. It's a low-ammo-cost practice rifle, bolt-action .30-30 with better ballistics, and a low-recoil hunting rifle wrapped in one package. It may be my next gun purchase.....though Ruger's new 9mm carbine is tempting....

Find this one a little more interesting; been wanting a rifle in this caliber and already have a CZ 527 in 7.62X39.

I have the CZ in 7.62x39. It's the carbine version - short and compact. I like it. Ammo is cheap and plentiful. It will hit whatever I need to at 100 yards (50 yards is an average shot here in the woods). Mine has an aperture sight on it, but I've been contemplating a scope.
Ruger's version costs a lot less. I predict it will sell well.

I have one in 7.62x39. Since my only rifle caliber is 7.62x39, i snatched one up for $400 shipped to my ffl. Its been out for a while now. Love the threaded barrel and looking forward to putting my pbs wolverine can on it

What's not to like? Ammo is plenty cheap and in supply. I would argue that it is capable of humane kills on anything up to a whitetail. I hunt with a lever action 30/30 and this is pretty much it's equal.
