Be careful handling the ejector rod on this handgun. I was ejecting some ammo from it today and my finger slipped somehow sliding down the inside of the rod and sliced my finger open. The inboard side of the rod is hollowed out and the edges are razor sharp!

Above is the rod and you can see the edges and they are sharp! At least mine is, so lookout if ya got one!

If you use your palm to push the ejector rod like Massad Ayoob does, that never becomes a problem....

I usually do, but for some reason, I used my finger. I guess it was cause they were live rounds and I didn't want them falling. I was just wanting people to be aware of the potential is all.

Live rounds should just fall into your hand if the cylinders are clean

I wonder if they missed it in the deburring process or if they're all like that?

Just checked my GP100 and those edges aren't sharp at all.
My GP100 is an '87 manufacture, the edges are (like yours) not sharp at all.

I just ordered an SP101 yesterday; FedEx will get it to my LGS on Thursday, so I'll have another example of recent manufacture to check...

I did get confused... I ordered both an SP101 and a Taurus 605 yesterday, the Taurus will be here Thur; the SP101 hasn't shipped yet, but I won't forget this thread!

One of the complaints I have seen in youtube videos, for the SP101, is sharp edges, particularly around the trigger, trigger guard, and hammer.
This one is razor-sharp on the ejector. When shooting it a lot (100+) I get a place rubbed raw on my trigger finger, but it's not a target gun, so it's all good.

Just looked at mine. Its super smooth. No burrs whatsoever. I ran my finger up and down it, and didn't get cut. I think you'd have a hard time getting mine to do that. FYI, Mine's an older one that I bought 2nd hand. I have no idea if it's been cleaned up or how much it's been shot. It might be that years of use has smoothed it out.

You could always hit it with a piece of sandpaper to knock the edges off.

Ruger would probably take care of it too if you want to go through the hassle of sending it in.

Maybe with trying to get more product on the market after last years of record gun sales, and depleted stock, it slipped through QC and never got deburred?

    Bill,
Thank you for the information!! My wife carries hers daily in a fanny pack and I will check it when I get home tonight. Like others here have said, using the palm to eject rounds or empty cases will prevent such an injury.....but if hers is sharp I will break the edges.
