Took this on trade from another member. Excited to shoot it and provide a report. I have come to love how easy it is to spend hours plinking with .22 caliber guns. Eventual plans are a threaded barrel (probably Twin Tech) and SilencerCo SS Sparrow.
mine cycled during rapid fire sessions, doesn't care for slow shots. the take down lever blows though. Mine broke, used a company in Conroe Texas for the replacement. Was not going to deal with another bad factory part from Ruger. BTW, it would have cost around $30 to ship the gun to them. 30-45 day replacement time frame. Ordered from twin tech, got the part the next day. Took me 15 minutes to replace part while watching their instructional video. haven't had a problem since. Probably have ran 1300 rounds through the gun.
I have one and tried to make it fail. I dug up some rounds that had been rolling around in my car trunk, mixed HP and solid bullets and used dirty, damaged and really nasty rounds. It worked faultlessly!
Mine does....i do note tho that cleaning the feed ramp well after each shoot helps...only had a few FTFs with some cheap ass Winchester stuff when I first ran it...seems perfect now...my kids love it too.
Just an update with more mods. I increased each mag capacity to 13, replaced the plastic guide rod with stainless steel, and added traction grips. Total cost for all mods was less than $50, and all were purchased from Galloway Precision. Looking forward to a couple hundred rounds on Friday afternoon. Now if only the mags weren't so dang expensive.
