Some carriers won't cover theft if you leave your keys in the ignition. Not saying thats what happened, but probably is what happend here.

Depends on carrier. It’s generally covered under a comprehensive policy but exclusions apply if the owner has culpability for failing to secure the vehicle when unattended.

Seems the guy stealing the car caused the damage. If he had not stolen it it would not have been shot up
