So are you advocating forced registration, (while you still have those dancing shoes on, lol)

I'm not for any kind of registration. I personally don't believe the NFA to be constitutional. I also don't believe we could just wipe all of it off the books wholesale, either, so I'm picking my battles for now. The larger battles are around who will appoint supreme court justices and federal judges.

Depending upon how many Fed and SC judges BHO can appoint...this forum may be considered illegal in 2015.

One of the main reasons I started my search for a job outside of Connecticut (specifically choosing to get back to Texas) was because of Connecticut Public Act 13-3. There was no way in hell I was going to register nor declare anything extra to those anti-gun bastards. As of yesterday in Connecticut if you get caught with a magazine that carries over 10 rounds that you did not declare to the State, you can and will be charged with a Class D felony. During the summer I told my father that lives in Corsicana that if I didn't get to Texas by Dec 31st, my wife's and my "CT illegal" magazines were getting put in a FedEx box and mailed to him for safe keeping. Connecticut already had a firearm registration database. You need a Pistol/Revolver Permit to buy and carry (open carry is legal in CT). But you should see all the folks that get up in arms if you do, including LEOs that don't know the law.

Here's the link to the Un-Constitutional Law. It is being fought by the Connecticut Citizens Defense League (CCDL) as well as a few others.

A first offense on magazine only is a misdemeanor if you owned it before the effective date (which I assume they'd need to prove if they wanted to charge the felony). The section that covers this:

    (c) Except as provided in this section and section 24 of this act: (1) Any person who possesses a large capacity magazine on or after January 1, 2014, that was obtained prior to the effective date of this section shall commit an infraction and be fined not more than ninety dollars for a first offense and shall be guilty of a class D felony for any subsequent offense, and (2) any person who possesses a large capacity magazine on or after January 1, 2014, that was obtained on or after the effective date of this section shall be guilty of a class D felony.

It was already talked about in the Connecticut firearms circles and ranges that the State would say that if you didn't declare it before Jan 1st, you must have gotten it on or after. With regards to firearms, you are guilty until proven innocent. Class D felony, thankyouverymuch.
Only if you had a receipt for that magazine that you could prove that was for that exact magazine would you get the $90 fine. "Where are your papers? Your papers are not in order."

Hard to put into words how truly disgusting this is. But it is what it is. The people of Connecticut have voted these chodes into office, and they are getting what they voted for. Unfortunately for the ones that voted against it, they live in a state that doesn't hold their same views. Yes, what they are doing is absolutely 100% unconstitutional, but that doesn't seem to matter anymore. And the more restrictions states are putting on their people like that, the harder it is going to be to fight against tyranny.

Let this be a lesson for us in Texas, though. We have Wendy Davis making a big splash in Texas right now. 2014 is going to be a big election year for us. If I didn't live in the state or was new to it I might think that there's no way Texas would go democrat. But I live/work in the Austin area. I see countless Obama/Obamacare/Socialism/Communism loving people that are here. It's downright scary. And obviously San Antonio and Houston have a fair few of those kind of people, too. So we need to make sure Abbot gets elected. Get out and vote!

Flewda, being a former resident of CT (that ended just a few days ago on 12/31/13), I didn't vote any of those current folks into office. Everyone (every single Republican) that I voted for lost.
Many hunters in CT didn't pay attention to what was happening. They didn't know, listen, or care. They thought it was about the "evil black rifle" or those "dangerous large capacity magazines". There were hunters that walked into Wal-Mart to get their ammo on or after Oct 1st and had to walk away empty handed. An individual needs one of three State issued permits to buy ammo.

"Effective October 1, 2013, all purchasers of ammunition must now have either a new “ammunition certificate”, a long gun eligibility certificate, a pistol permit or an eligibility certificate."

DEEP: Hunting and Connecticut's Gun Laws

The super majority State Democrats did the following...
They said they did all this for the children.
Everyone knows that they didn't. They used the actions of one psychopath (Adam Lanza at Sandy Hook Elementary) to further their political agenda. They used Adam Lanza as a weapon against the 2nd Amendment. And as of right now, they've gotten away with it.
I still have my CT Pistol Permit but I'll never need it ever again. It will expire in a couple of years. I'm wondering how I should dispose of it. Should I include a nice little political statement if I were to mail it back? Should I include a picture of The Great State of Texas as well?
Would they even give a damn?

Ladies and Gentlemen that support the 2A, it is very important that you not let your guard down. The other side takes little bites here and there. They have their agenda and they are winning in certain areas of the Country. Don't let them do that here! It is very important that the anti-2A'ers not gain even 1 inch. Remember, that asshat Bloomberg doesn't have a city to run anymore. All of his time and wealth can be poured into whatever he wants which currently is to remove the 2A from the Constitution.
Call or write your elected officials (emails don't carry as much weight as a stack of letters) and let them know you are watching them. That they will be held accountable for their actions. And if they do not support the 2nd Amendment and the Right of the People, that they will be removed from Office.

That's their usual battlecry....."it's for the children," whether it applies to guns, smoking, drinking or any other number of issues some libiturd has against "society."

About the only "damn" they'd give is realizing that they've lost your financial input into their communist/socialist/Marxist bullshit.
Or they'll continue to send you renewal notices to your Texas address .... Much like when i left the Peoples' Socialist Яepublik of Kalifornia and for 4 months afterwards, they continued sending me notices that my Kommiefornia vehicle registration had expired.........to my LAS VEGAS, NEVADA address.

Your last 2 sentences tell the tale. All it would have taken for Sandy Hook to have never happened was 1 person who carried.

aw... look at the cute little serfs
    I'd rather be a criminal.

It really is that simple. Be a slave or be a free criminal. And any gov that forces that decision on a free citizen is in fact criminal.

Im not a big libertarian but when you have a gov intent on expanding who they identify as a criminal, everyone should be worried. Will refusing to buy healthcare insurance land us in prison instead of a fine in the future? Not unreasonable to think so. How many of these radical socialists talk about CEOs making obscene profits? Will that be the next class of criminal? Why not?

I was curious so I went over to About the CT AWB, Gun Legislation & Politics and I really am not surprised how the law like this passed there. It just seems like their all more then eager to comply with it.
I understand this is a small sample group and not representative of the entire state, but it just seems like I would find one guy say "Hell No, I won't register anything!" or something to that effect.
But no. It seems they were more interested in helping each other out to get everything registered before the deadline.
I know there are people here that would do the same, but there are just as many that wouldn't.
I just thought I would find the same there, but you know what they say about assuming anything.

Right or wrong, part of this is because the groups that are fighting this law in the courts urged individual compliance so that there weren't immediate "test cases" that could be used against them in the media, in court battles, etc., fearing the CT powers that passed this would be looking for the first example to make.
