San Antonio's best storm to Gay Bowl
BY JESSICA BELASCO : OCTOBER 7, 2013

The San Antonio Diablos started a recent football practice with some simple drills, players moving in a smooth arc before turning to catch the ball.
They then slipped on belts, equipped with yellow flags, and the fun started.
A spirited scrimmage ensued, highlighted by cheering and intense trash talk.
Just like any other flag football game, except this team was gearing up for the Gay Bowl.
The Diablos, a de facto all-star team from the San Antonio Gay Flag Football League, is the designated traveling squad for the league. In a few days, they'll head to Phoenix for Gay Bowl XIII, the championship tournament of the National Gay Flag Football League. The tournament is scheduled for Thursday through Monday.
The team started in 2006 with 15 players. In spring 2013, the league expanded to four teams with about 85 players. The goal is to provide an inclusive league where people of all sexual orientations feel like they belong.
