If you can shoot Pimp Daddy, you should do fine with a Rock Island in 9mm or a Commander size with 3" barrel. A Kimber Pro Carry ii in 9mm would do well for you too if you can find one. I have both the Rock and Kimber and love them.

    How heavy is Pimp Daddy?
    About 38oz.

IMO, You should get a "Government" or "full size" 1911.
The "Commander" length gun has a shorter barrel.
They're a little more difficult to shoot accurately as well as lighter so the recoil is stouter with them.
I'd also recommend adjustable sights on a target shooting gun.

Yes, he has! But, that's not a very good picture of him. :(

Since I met Pimp Daddy, I've been looking at 1911's. The best deal I've found is the Rock Island 1911. Close behind is the American Classic 1911. Creeping up in price, we have the Remington R1 Enhanced 1911, the Ruger SR1911, and the Springfield Range Officer 1911.

I could probably manage one of the cheaper ones without too much time to have to save up.

    See what you started.
Can’t go wrong with the Range Officer Champion.

I lifted and shot (a whole bunch) a 38 oz gun plus 9 rounds?! I never would have believed it!

    So, that's a full-sized/Government 1911, around 38 ounces and a full 5" barrel. with adjustable sights.

That rules out the first 2 I posted (the cheapest). No adjustable sights. And the Ruger would have to be changed to the 5 inch version.

    Remington R1 Enhanced 1911
    Ruger SR1911 5 inch
    Springfield Range Officer 1911

At least, now I know the price range and can start saving. There's a fair chance I can buy one for my Christmas present.
