Saturday morning rant...

Ok... So I'm washing my truck at the shop and I need to turn it around. I get in, crank it up, and the radio is on.... It's on some sports channel - I suppose. Anywho... This guy is talking about some golfer, don't know who and for the sake this rant it doesn't matter. So... I came in mid-discussion and hear "... Well I'd attribute his attitude to his competitiveness. On the course he had a pretty bad attitued. But off the course he is a pretty magnanimous guy! Now, I've never met him or his wife...." WTF.... Using first person tense to describe a guy... you've never met? Bet he'd say the same thing about Santa Clause!

I googled gerund. I remember the word but nothing else about it. I hated English class.

There are certain broadcasts that will do nothing but hurt your brain. CNN and MSNBC are two that quickly come to mind. They won't report anything of value, but will spend 24/7 hating on anybody opposing socialism. Russia's Pravda would be embarrassed to report that badly.

But when it comes to mind-numbing stupidity, nothing beats sports talk shows. The hosts actually compete on air to see who can throw out the most words without having the slightest idea what they're saying. Doesn't matter the topic, someone hates it. Right now, they all want to appear to be favoring black people, so EVERYTHING is racist. If the hosts aren't stupid enough, they'll bring on some jocks that couldn't pass a college class on basketball to blather on and on about nothing. Two teams play a game and one wins. You show the highlights and maybe you can comment on key players that did well or not. That's 10 minutes, tops. Then for the next 2 hours you blather on and on about nothing. Oh, and you also have to toss in odd statistics that nobody freakin' knows so that it looks like you're the expert. "This team reminds me of the 1958 Cubs and we all know how that turned out."

Tune out the noise. Turn off the idiots. Listen to music. Watch Jerry Miculek videos on YouTube. Or his daughter, Lena. (I met both at an NRA convention. They're every bit as nice as they are in their videos and she's prettier in person than on the screen.) Hell, watch videos on taking apart shotguns. More informative, more relaxing, and much better for your brain.
