    If that's the case, they weren't members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Maybe Mormon Fundamentalists, who knows. The missionaries referred to are pairs of unmarried young men 18-21 or young women that are slightly older. Polygamy in the mainstream Mormon church officially ended in the 1890's before Utah was allowed to join the US.

    Religion is taboo on this site so I hesitate to post this but I wanted to clarify. Admins, delete my post if necessary.
    I asked the local church for some missionaries and he ended up sending the "president" who rallied the troops. The missionaries did end up visiting us quite often.

    I just googled, and they are indeed LDS. The church was about 1/2 mile from that house.
