Savage Mark I FVT

I just ordered a Savage Mark I FVT. I am looking forward to doing some cheap bulls eye and silhouette shooting! It is .22lr. I expect to get it within a week!

In my area .22 lr ammo is a little easier to get than the standard pistol rounds.

I have noticed that most will buy the Savage Mark II FVT instead of the Mark I like I am getting. The difference? The Mark I is a single shot and cost right at $300.00, where the Mark II has a magazine that holds (I believe) ten rounds and cost closer to $400.00. Considering that I will use it as a target rifle, I went with the cheaper single shot. If I was going hunting or general "off-hand" plinking I would use my Henry Golden Boy (lever action) or my son's Ruger 10/22.

My stock 10/22 is not real accurate, how is the Henry for accuracy?

The Henry shoots quite well. I have only shot it at about 30 yards, but was shooting at a bull the size of a dime. I had the rifle poorly benched (standing, leaning forward with a support). Of course it depends on the shooter, but I feel it is more accurate that most of the .22lr semi-autos. Basically, it is very accurate and has a very, very smooth action. It looks cool too, that is if you are into old west type guns. I am very happy with it, but don't consider it a competition gun. For shooting silhouettes and plinking, I highly recommend this gun.

Thats a nice lookin gun I was lookin into getting a Marlin like that or a ruger 10/22 that I was goin to modify. Let me know how that one shoots though.
