At a small gun show and saw a gent trying to sell a nice looking Model 24.
    We struck a deal.

This will be a perfect gun to introduce my grand-kids to hunting.

A bonus is that after a cursory google search the "D" prefix appears to make it an early 50s build date.

Love these little Drillings! I had one years ago which unfortunately was stolen during a home burglary. Did yours come with the leather carrying case too? I carried mine in a backpack when still-hunting big game so I pop a few Grouse with .22 Shorts along the way.

There was a "camper" version built for a short time that came in a case like you describe.
This guy is about 6" longer.

The gent only brought the gun.

Very nice! Did you get that at the Weatherford show? My first "real gun" was a Savage .22/.410 combo.

Yes ... the Weatherford show ...

Maybe 75 tables, but I've noticed the smaller shows aren't saturated with vendors. The dealers and sellers are there to sell and trade and folks bring guns to sell and trade. Both seem more motivated.

When I realized what it was, my first thought was to teach my grandchildren.

Good solid gun. That .22 barrel is plenty accurate too.
I'll get Dad's when the time comes. It ain't in that good a shape, truck gun on the farm for 20 some odd years.
    Serviceable though.
