Colorado Shooting over in 80 Seconds because of Armed School Resource Officer | Concealed Nation

First off-this school shooting was a tragedy that never should have happend.

With that being said-the shoot out was over in a min and a half vs the officers getting there in 14 min all because they had an armed employee onsite. Maybe this will allow the debate of arming school staff to swing in favor of allowing it, and now we can focus on what qualifications they need and make this happen.

Actually this is very typical. In nearly every high-profile mass shooting the killer committed suicide when faced with armed resistance.

It's very rare that they go in expecting to come out alive; they know they're on suicide missions. The sooner you can send lead their direction the sooner it will all be over.

    Colorado's school shooting -- over in 80 seconds - CNN.com

The rampage might have resulted in many more casualties had it not been for the quick response of a deputy sheriff who was working as a school resource officer at the school, Robinson said.

The deputy was yelling for people to get down and identified himself as a county deputy sheriff, Robinson said. "We know for a fact that the shooter knew that the deputy was in the immediate area and, while the deputy was containing the shooter, the shooter took his own life.

I'm sure this wont get a whole lot of coverage. Can't let the NRA be proven right ya know.

When a tragedy like this occurs what is most people's first response?
    Call the cops, right?
    Why?
Because they have guns — duh!
Doesn't it just make sense to have the trained staff within immediate response time to already be armed?
If we can't trust them with a firearm, how can we trust them with our children?
If you're afraid that their negligence might hurt your child, how can they be trusted with scissors?

This is fact. Even in cases of armed crime where the suspects expect the unarmed victims to just roll over, if they meet armed resistance they tend to flee post haste.
