I wad wondering if anybody had used these before. I found a good deal on a scope and rings 30mm. My one piece Warne scope mount is 1 inch. I found some inserts for 10.00.
Do the inserts work good or waste of time

Perhaps it's just me mis-understanding your wording - 30mm is larger than the 1-piece Warne 1" and inserts are normally to allow for a 30mm "mount" to utilize a 1" diameter scope.

I have several older 1-piece 30mm mounts that came with 1" inserts, but sorry I have never used the inserts to tell if they are good to go.

ps - I have become a fan of AERO Precision Ultra-Light weight mounts (for ARs) and buy them for the diameter scope I'm mounting.

I agree, inserts won't help if your mount is too small. 1" is smaller.

I have never used inserts and can't stand the thought of using them. But to each their own on that one.

    Pretty simple, I'm thinking.
    1" (25.4mm) scope in 30mm rings?

    I've done it on occasion.

All we are are talking about is 2.3 mm thick circular shim around a 1" (25.4mm) tube to fit inside a 30mm mount orifice.

    Works like a charm.

Generally they are solid aluminum or sometimes steel.

    Generic ones are 10-20 bucks.

Badger Ordinance, maker of rock-solid mounts, shim rings for about $40 are the ones I have mounting a 1" Swarovski to the 30 mm rings on my Steyr SSG.

    Nothing really compromising or shoddy.
