Can't go around acting crazy and hoping things work out. Good news that the guard made it home.

That is kinda like that saying "if you're going to be stupid you'd better be tuff" :happy0001: From what the article says, the officer may not have been on his assigned post, but we will see what happens when APD gets done.

If the shooting was a justified self defense shooting, no one cares if it was not on "his post".

However, they my bet is that it goes to a grand jury, and he better have had no other way to run to get out of the trucks way. Shooting a person driving a car does not stop the threat/car. Jumping 4'-5' is something a person can do that a car can't.

Technically, I think that even if he were pinched in a tight spot and could not get away from the truck, like against a wall, still, shooting the driver is not stopping the threat to your life. That car/truck in motion doesn't consider a bullet. It may not be a good situation for him. Or maybe there's something I'm not aware of which would be good for him. On the other hand, was he stopping him from fleeing running over the passenger which the Guard may have had good reason to believe was a murder.

All speculation aside, this is one of those that will require good evidence and justified circumstances to keep the guard off the hook I think.

The only thing I don't agree with you on is that, it does matter if he was on his post or not. If he was not on his assigned post then he was not legally carrying a firearm. But other than that I think you are right. We (the general public) do not have all the evidence and facts. So until APD releases more we know a just little bit more than nothing. :happy0001:

If in fact he can legally carry only on his post, it would still only be an unlawful carry charge, but if he was acting on a crime being committed, it's doubtful that would make a difference.

    But we're still speculating. :happy0001:

I thought as long as he was in a legit uniform, then a security guard can carry his weapon, except where alcohol is sold, etc.?

This is where we need open carry. It would get rid of any of this . .. . was he on his post crap that is completely irrelevent.
