    First, here's the article.

Basically a 40yo woman and her husband went to the woman's parents home, shot the woman's mother and brother. The woman's father was able to get a pistol and take out both his daughter and her husband.

Other than being a very weird and tragic story, it is noteworthy that the father apparently used a ".22 revolver" and was able to take his daughter out with one (head) shot and her husband with an unspecified number of shots (both daughter and hubby were armed with shotguns).

Since effective calibers for self defense is a topic near and dear to many, just thought many would find this interesting.

a .22 can absolutely be a deadly round. I just picked up a Ruger 22/45 with a threaded barrel. Im thinking with a silencer that is a scary gun. Of course, I dont have the $ for a can.

IMHO shot placement and handgun control. Since the .22 has little recoil you can repeatedly shot at one spot and be deadlier than missing your first shot out of a .45 handgun.
