    Soon to be Texan
This past week, I was informed I have the option to work about anywhere we have a facility, and TX looks pretty dang good.

With all the violent Socialists mucking up everything in most states that touch large bodies of water, I am looking for an out from Cali, and think I have found it... Looking forward to the lady being able to carry, and myself too for this reason, in case of these violent lefty-attackers in particular.

Don't worry, I won't bring California with me, I am looking to remove our BS California-compliant AR-15 RIFLE STOCKS and throw a normal-Liberty pistol grip on them.
THIS is what we have to do in Cali right now to avoid registration:
    File-1571943331.jpg

I am sure I can sell these back at a discount to a Californian-buyer on eBay once the goofy stocks come off, as I will NOT be going back once I leave...
Except to help my parents move to a free-state when they have had enough too. :p

Hardcore Libertarian, so I side Republicans on just about everything and vote that way, I NEVER vote for anything Democrat-pushed, as I saw Cali. going full-pinko as soon as I became a gun owner, and they are there now... Baby-steps to complete 2A/firearm control, they start little, and an inch is given, then they do whatever they want once in power to ban the most popular firearm in the US.

    Formerly enlisted US Marine.
Ammo Tech 2311, and now I roll my own...

Thank you for a forum to discuss guns and laws in your state before I take the plunge.

Here is the ENTIRE list of Approved Handguns you can buy new, on the "Safe Handgun Roster" (90+% [?} of all handguns banned for new sale) in Cali:
    "SAFE HANDGUN ROSTER"
Do a search, and see how bad it is... You won't find a single Ruger, or S&W Semi-auto Handgun on the extortion-list, these companies wouldn't pay to have their guns tested anymore, as I understand it.

Looking forward to a bit of liberty, after being temporarily liberty-castrated (my whole life), but it has been wearing off for a LONG TIME...

Now if an unincorporated area (<10,000 pop), the 50 acre rule does not apply about shooting on your own property?
THIS seems a bit silly being 50 acres for a 9mm or .38 SPL... if you have a backstop.
Only about 10k primers left (YUP!), maybe I'll wait until I arrive to enjoy real liberty.
I don't think I could afford 50+ acres, but would LOVE to work on load development on my own property.

Welcome! Come check out the Dallas Ft Worth area. I recommend it. Its growing but not as busy as Houston or Austin. Definitely much cheaper to live than California. I lived in L.A. for 10 years in the 1980s and could barely afford. There is a lot to like about Texas wherever you settle. Good luck with the move!

    What 50 ac rule?????

I think he's talking about the amount of land required to keep a municipality from encroaching via eminent domain OR actual city limit expansion, on an established gun range. Basically allowing a shooting range to be permanently "grandfathered" regardless of the municipality's desires. It's addressed in the Texas State statutes.

Doesn't really involve the acreage laws about shooting on your own land.

Good luck OP on any relocation you may undertake. And yes, should you settle on Texas, please don't come with the intention of turning Texas into a California. California is a beautiful state and must have been a magnificent place to live 150 years ago (before all the people moved in).

Well, Texas does border on a large body of water and San Antonio, Austin, Houston are Commisocialist havens.... Lots of California, New York and Illinois people are moving to Texas and the last election was tight so, IF you vote anti - socialist Democrat... welcome prepare for the secession.

    Willkommen from the big town.

I too left Commiefornia a few years back (lived in the bay area for 30 years), tired of all the BS and too many people and most of them liberal. Anyway as others have said stay away from the big cities as most are becoming liberal enclaves. I recall when Ruger told the Commiefornia DOJ to stick it. The changed manufacturers of a small spring on one of their semis, do not recall which one but I think it was a 9mm. Same spring specs, just now made by company B instead of company A. The commies said you have to give us 10 pistols for testing and 100 rounds for each gun. Ruger said Go F Yourself.

I was generalizing, of course about large bodies of water, which CLEARLY doesn't apply to your lovely state... yet but they are trying.

I don't think there is such a thing as Socialist Democrat, just Socialists (calling themselves Democrats, always), which is the first step to Communism, and they reason they want the gen-pop disarmed, especially Marines & rifles...
    One shot-one (s)kill...

Most Democrats don't even know the KKK was started by 0 republicans, but about 100% Democrats. Nor are they aware that Republicans never owned a slave, as Republicans WERE the anti-slavery movement, which is why the party started. (There was one Republican that owned a slave, but he was a Democrat at the time...)

I really don't get how they screw up one state, and then move away from what their own ignorance caused, then vote for the same party they left state control of, and they try to do it in another state because it worked "so well"! I think they are not fleeing pinko-states they caused, but trying to infect other states with their continued-ignorance. It seems they cannot learn from their mistakes.

One thing I'll have to get used to is going 10-over the limit, and getting passed by a fully-loaded semi, with extreme prejudice. :roflfunny:
This kept happening around Houston, when I went there traveling for work.

Everything the left-pushes generally hurts the middle class and below the most,
but they say they care about the poor? :argue:

My lady was a life-long Democrat, but as I kept saying "your boys", and she started to realize I was right, now she says "It's the Democrat screwing it all up". When she went to the DMV to register, she stayed registered Democrat, and votes straight Republican ticket...
TALK ABOUT AN AWESOME MONKEY WRENCH! :D

Howdy. Chances are where you end up at here won’t be much different than where you left.

No, we don’t have BLM land and there’s a good reason for that.

Snowball's chance, to decades of ignorance pushed to get anywhere NEAR Cali's Bull.
Per the Heller decision, WE all know the 2A is NOT about hunting, but in case of domestic threats to the 2A also...

People are more aware of how Democrats work these days, as there is historical evidence of what happens when they get in "power(-trip)".

Looking to trade in my Ruger Mark III, for what is essentially unobtanium in Cali, the Ruger Mark IV. :-)

Also as my first order of business once a resident: obtain some Ruger BX-25 mags, as only one obtained legally in Cali. More fun to be had in TX.

    LinA,

Stay out of Texas big cities.

They're bastions of communism every stinkin one of em.

Out in the country is best, but small towns here are good too.

Welcome to Texas when you get here.
