    Subjects,

Haven't you heard? We are in the midst of an energy crisis. Please turn off your AC, don't do laundry and postpone your evening meal until after dark.

    Remember:
    - Much of the world gets by without AC. Put aside your privilege and do with less.
    - In the future we shall increasingly rely upon renewable resources such as solar and wind power. The fate of the planet is at stake! Do your part.
    - The earth cannot sustain further consumption of resources. Preserve what you can for future generations, limit your activity.

    Best regards,

    Your Government

PS. Yes I heard this warning twice on the radio while on my way to work...

Thanks to the effects of wind energy, this is no joke. Not long ago, the ERCOT reserve (demand to supply) dropped to an incredibly low 0.4%. We were very close to blackouts.

Potential exists for this again this afternoon, according to ERCOT. ERCOT is the one who requested the public appeal be made.

There was a virtue signaling message I read on a can of bud yesterday: The energy to brew this beer came from wind power.

    Who gives a flying ....?

Not another can for me, ever.

I guess they think it pc necessary to advertise this ludicrous message.
That's what you get for drinking formaldehyde

F**k ERCOT. Another made up government entity to tell us what to do.

I remember before wind, no ERCOT. Plenty of electricity. Occasionally the plant would have to fire up a turbine to meet peak demand. No fussin, Just got er done.

    Simple formula, make more.

Ya cant shut down plants and coal production then scream that there's no power.

Agree on the problem involving thermal plants shutting down.

But ERCOT did not shut down the plants. The owners of those thermal plants made that decision. Why? Because so much wind production came online and the wind had a taxpayer subsidy that artificially lowered energy prices, thus making some thermal plants no longer economically viable.

That and constantly changing environmental regs.

I’ve got my bill down to $400/month for summer usage...we were over $600 when we first bought the place last summer.

AC set to Eco (80 degrees) when not home. 76-77 when home.

Will be looking into solar before the end of the year.
