The tang safety is a novelty on this early model.
It is a three position safety. Safe in the middle. push forward will fire and upon opening the action the safety is reset.
Pull the safety to the rear, the gun will fire and Not reset the safety when opened.

Gosh- it’s been 15 years since I replaced the parts and it eats low brass 7-1/2 shot for lunch. Let me think-
I replaced the “puck”, the factory gas adjuster with an “Auto Plug”, polished the gas port, receiver, and bolt. And I run it oilier than you’d think necessary. Think AR10 kinda of dripping wet- then that’s how oily. I bought the gun and accompanying parts to make it 922r compliant from Tac47. They used to be in Spring, but grew up and out into Houston, I think. Good group of guys that ran it then. I hope it’s the same group. Very knowledgeable. Mine is not “converted”. All the controls are in the original position.
