    As soon as they start selling AM General HMMWV'S to the general public-that. It's light, has an independent suspension, 4wd, strong front and rear bumpers, winch available, stable due to its width, and plenty of room. Then I would just outfit it from there.
    ah that reminds me, the BRDM-2 also has an integrated winch... ;)

    I've seen a 4bt powered H1 before but that's about it. One of the Chevy 4500 4x4 chassis would be a bad choice.

    Ok yeah that's what I was thinking of didnt realize they had the 4 xtra those for water movement?
    No, technically for ditch crossing. Basically you can't high center the thing. Some of the later models didn't have the belly wheels to make space for a side door and extra passenger seat.
