I just ran across these rifles recently. I've heard they are good for a .45-70 conversion. Anyone every have that done, and how much of a job is it? Does the barrel have to be replaced, or can it typically be bored and re chambered?

Have a siamese that i got for $50 a long time ago.
Then rechambered it for 219 zipper ackley. A challenge.
Rebarreling yours is the easiest. Reboring is tedious snd time consumimg.

I'd find one that was already done, probably less expensive than just the labor to have it done.
ETA: The last Navy Arms conversion I saw listed was $525 asking price.

There are a few good gunsmiths in this area that can do it. My guess would be depending on the barrel, shilen, douglas.
Plus somewhere about $400 that too will depend on wether the smith beds the stock.

Enough of them have already been butchered. Leave the original ones alone. Not only does it ruin the value of the gun, the money you put in it could have been well spent on the dies to make the proper ammo that isn't that hard to make in the first place.
