Okay, so crappy Omega mount fails and silencer launches downrange at indoor range.

no big deal. happens all the time. just cease fire and go get it, re-attach to crummy mount and it stays on

but not this time. jerk RSOs refuse to call and ceasefire and go get the can.

Other jerk shooters start using the lonely can as target practice.

    Amazing on so many levels.

We have called cease fire immediately for: suppressors, lasers, flashlights, magazines, front sights, firearms, springs and dentures (don't ask)........

Range was totally in the wrong.......imho...

If the RO wouldn't call a cease fire I would have been talking to somebody higher up the chain. I sure in the hell wouldn't have left without it. I would have waited.

The owner talks about the range taking possession of his suppressor like there could be legal ramifications against them. The way I see it they didn't have a choice as the owner left it behind, similar to any time somebody has to visit the lost and found at a range.

The RO is a dick but the owner made poor choices too to end up in this situation. If somebody shot it intentionally they are a dick too. This is what happens when a bunch of dicks converge.

Well, I've never had an issue with my crappy Omega mount so I'm not sure how the can could randomly shoot off the rifle unless it was already pretty loose. Seems like a lack of awareness.

That said, I'd have been much more belligerent with the range staff when told to leave my can. I'm also unaware of any range that doesn't allow anyone to call a cease fire when necessary. Probably get banned from the range in the process, but obviously wouldn't have been returning anyways.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I've always been told "everyone is an RSO" If you think you should, call the line cold. It's almost stated as much as the "4 rules."

Perhaps the guy was timid and didn't want confrontation... but it's not that hard to call a ceasefire and go get it... worst case they throw you out of the range.

Am I the only one who fathom it happening. Forget whatever it is. If you're at a range and anything flips down the range they would stop and get. Simple courtesy.

    As noted this feels...not real.

I can't imagine someone allowed to do this. There would be words at lease.

Says it went all the way to the berm. I think it's just as likely it was hit be a couple of stray rounds.

So, if he was to wait till the range was closed to be allowed to go down range, does that imply it is an "all steel target" range?

Something's not right here, there's way too much wrong with this scenario to make sense...

First, anytime there's a discrepancy on the range it should be called cold until the problem is fixed. Heck, I've seen ranges go cold because someone's target has blown over.

Secondly, shooting at non-targets has never been allowed at any range I've been to. Way too dangerous.

Not saying any of this didn't happen, it's just not right...
