    Will some of the design changes appease the AR-15 crowd? What was wrong with the old Sig 556 rifles? If some of these changes result in the greater availability of barrels, parts, and whole uppers, I will be exited. I would actually love it if a whole market develops around this rifle design, because I think that it may have more to offer than the AR. Also with the new 556 Russian. Could you imagine the AK design being brought into the modern age with fast barrel swaps and greater modularity?

    I could go for the carbon model.

    Looks interesting. I didn't really notice that one at first. Should cut down on the weight that the 556s are known for. It's interesting that Sig with the xi is departing from the full length SG551 style gas length and sticking with the reduced length of the patrol models.

    Not a big fan of the side charging handle on 556. I like the folding stock tho
