I am currently deployed to Afghanistan. My company is looking to get an engraved rifle to commemorate the deployment. We've talked about it and decided on the Marlin 336 with the option to get the blued or the stainless steel. The problem is Marlin doesn't customize their stuff. So I was thinking we could send the rifles to an FFL that also does engraving, and get something simple like the unit crest and the deployment number engraved on the receiver, and our unit patch into the stock. I've googled gun engraving in my area and the results are a little sketchy. It seems that individuals do most of it so I thought maybe you guys could refer me to somebody or a shop that does it. I'm expecting anywhere from 10 to 30 rifles. Also anybody that has experience with engraving, I'm not sure that the blued receiver will show the engraving as well as the stainless, so is there a way to fill it with some color to make it show better? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
