SINTON--A U.S. Marine from Sinton has been killed, but not while serving abroad. The family of 21-year old Jonathan Rodriguez said he was fatally shot at a home in North Carolina.
Another Marine, Lionel Loya, has been charged with involuntary manslaughter. The Rodriguez family said the men were friends, were assigned to the same Marine unit and had even planned to be roommates.
It's believed the two were fighting over a football game Saturday night when Loya accidentally shot him.
