I'm looking for a range that will let me fire my slide fire AR (223). I have searched though the DFW ranges in the sticky with not much luck.

I recall being told about a range on the south east of town that required a yearly membership that would let you do full auto. But I have lost their card and cant find them on the web.

If there are no places in Dallas, where does anyone go to shoot full auto?

    Thanks!

Are you talking about the range in Ferris, south of Dallas, east of I-45 and west of the Trinity River? If so, the website is tdsa.net. Ask for Len. Real friendly and knowledgeable guy. According to their website, annual membership is currently at $300/yr. When I was a member a few years ago, I think it was $200 or $250/yr, though.

Len uses a mix of berms and recycled tires as backstops. Not sure if it's because it's close to the Trinity, but there used to be a lot of mosquitoes at the range. Nothing some bug spray won't fix, though. At the time I was a member, full-auto was allowed, but I think you had first check with Len before you could shoot it. Could be wrong about that, though.

Not the prettiest private range I've been to, but I really enjoyed my time there when I was a member. It's one of the few that didn't have a waiting list and would allow you to join after interviewing with Len, or at least it was back then. I let my membership lapse a few years ago and have been thinking of re-joining.

I know I've rented full-autos in Dallas, at that range near Love Field that burned a while back. Look for indoor ranges that rent full-auto firearms. They should be open to Slide-Fire use. Note I said should; no guarantees.

BTW - If there was a "Greater Metro Area Gun Ranges" thread like we have in Houston, you'd be able to look up the info you need quick as a wink. :)

I was at the Frisco Gun Club one day when a guy was there with an old Thompson 45 MG. He blew threw about 10 clips while I was there. I didn't ask any questions, but that's a place to start.

There's a guy South of Venus building a full auto outdoor range now. Hasn't been making too much progress with all the mud lately, but I imagine it will be open this summer.

I've met the guy before and I'd be willing to wager slide fire won't be an issue with him.
