Wiat a 28 is an N frame right cause this is not an N frame. There is a noticable size difference in it and my 57 which is an N

I didn't know the number for the K-Frame version of the N-Frame 28.

    I believe it's a model 19 as that's the only .357 Magnum K-Frame I know of.

    dee,

I am not a S&W expert but I do believe you have what is commonly referred to as a "Pre 19" model also called the Combat Magnum. If this is so then your revolver is pre 1957 as that was when S&W began to mark the model number "19" according to the Standard Catalog of S&W 3rd edition. The correct serial number should be on the bottom of the grip so you may need to remove the grips to get the correct number, it should start with a K.

    I hope this is helpful.

Sorry I did not get back earlier. It is definately a K-frame. The crane is rounded on the K's but flat on the N's. Most would call it a Pre-19. Technical name was .357 Combat Magnum. Parts from an early M-19 will fit. Grips and holsters for any K-frame square butt will fit.
