shot twice a HUGE diamondback water snake - curled up at the base of a tree in my yard, just off the water - 9mm shot shells - the thing managed to "limp" (?) back into the water and disappear

a north wind brought the dead body back to the water's edge - 2 days later - pulled the thing out and the buzzards ate for a week

I just saw snake shot .40 S&W @ Academy yesterday. I think it was $16 for 10 rds. No 9mm, no .38, & naturally no .22 - only the socially unacceptable .40. I don't have snake problems so I passed.
